13 Tips on Moving

It's time for my Thursday Thirteen. My topic is all about moving. Since we will be moving out soon, so I wonder if its a good idea to share some tips about Moving.

1. Reserved the Moving Truck prior to your move, maybe about 2 to 3 weeks ahead. Why? We've tried to make a reservation like a week before we move, but then it's all fully booked!
2. Move on a weekday where every businesses are open.
3. Order preprinted address labels with your new address.
4. Keep a utility log to check service-transfer dates.
5. Pack Things together.
6. Choose a "packing room" ahead of time and box up a few things each day.
7. Mark each box with its contents and destination room.
8. If you own a pet, then if you are moving locally, you may want to leave your pets with a friend during moving day.
9. Remember to allow for extra braking room when driving a moving van.
10. We found the most cost effective way is to rent the largest truck and a car trailer for towing one of the cars, it is easier towing with a car trailer than a car dolly. Its worth the extra money. Doing it this way enabled us to move two cars, a boat and all furnishings.
11. Make all ready before you move.
12. Get some help earlier as possible so everyone could make a schedule out of it.
13. Prepare something to drink as always, some refreshments for the helpers.
