Learn More About Toledo Zoo

I have been searching and searching to see what were going to expect at Toledo Zoo, tomorrow. It is my first time to be there. I have been to Detroit zoo a couple of months ago and so sad to say, I don't like it. I hope I will love the Toledo Zoo. My husband told me about it. He's been there for a couple of years and according to him, Toledo Zoo is one of the best zoo he visited. We wanted to go to Cincinnati, Ohio but it is more farther for about 5 hours more. So, it can be a long drive, and I don't want to do that since the gas these days are already $4.00 per gallon! gishh!!!
Well, anyway, I did some research further about the Toledo Zoo. And here's what I found: It is the top 8 among of those 10 Best Family-Friendly Zoos.
Toledo Zoo began in 1900 as the Toledo Zoological Gardens and operated by the City of Toledo's Parks Board. In 1982 ownership was transferred from the city to the Toledo Zoological Society, a private non-profit organization, and professionalized the zoo's management. Many of the zoo's original buildings were built by the Works Progress Administration, and are still in use today.
The Toledo Zoo participates in over 30 Species Survival Plans. It is also a member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and the Butterfly Conservation Initiative. The zoo has also been home to many firsts in the world of zoos; such as the first hippoquarium (and subsequently the first video of a hippo birth), as well as the only place in the world where the Kihansi Spray Toad is on display. It also is only the second zoo in the world to have saddle-billed storks as a part of its collection.
